ICSI New Training Structure w.e.f 3rd Feb 2021

 

ICSI had introduced New Training Structure based on Company Secretaries (Amendment) Regulations, 2020 which came effect from 3rd February 2021 (Original date of implementation was 3rd August 2020 which was delayed for a period of six months due to COVID-19 Pandemic)

 

In this Article, we will take a glimpse of new training structure and practical questions and queries in the mind of students, trainees and trainers.

 

A.     Difference between New Training Structure vis a vis Old Modified Training Structure

Induction Programmes before starting practical training

In earlier training structure 15 days Academic Training (2 days Induction Program + 3 days e-governance + 5 days Skill Development + 5 days Entrepreneurship Development) was required to be completed by all students.

 

However, students were required to complete these training at any stage of long-term training after passing executive programme but before enrolling for M-SOP. Therefore, it was not mandatory before starting of practical training.

Here, EDP for a period of 30 days has to be mandatorily completed before starting of long-term practical training.

 

EDP is further divided into 2 parts:

        ·         where 15 days EDP needs to be completed in classroom mode in CCGRT/CoE/ROs/ Chapters (upto the level of Gold Chapter) and

        ·         15 days E-EDP through online mode at ICSI E-learning portal.

 

The students can do both the classroom mode EDP as well as E-EDP simultaneously

Formalities after completing practical training and clearing Professional exams

Students have to complete 15 days of MSOP after passing Professional Program and completing their Practical training and 15 days academic programme.

Students have to 30 to 60 days Corporate Leadership Development Program (CLDP) after passing Professional Program and completing their Practical training and one month EDP

Is there any Exemptions Allowed from above trainings

Yes, there are exemptions allowed to candidates meeting eligibility criteria.

However, there is no exemption from MSOP.

Yes, there are exemptions allowed under new training structure also.

However, there is no exemption from CLDP.

Leaves allowed

For students undergoing 3 years training – 108 days

For students undergoing 3 years training 2 years – 72 days

For students undergoing 3 years training 1 year after – 12 days

52 leaves are allowed in 21 months training under New Training structure

Stipend Payable

If undergoing training under PCS - Minimum amount of Rs 2000/- per month (For 3 year) ; Rs 3000/- per month (For 2 year) ; Rs 4000/- per month (For 1 year)

 

If undergoing training at Company /other entities - Minimum amount of Rs 3000/- per month (For 3 year) ; Rs 4000/- per month (For 2 year) ; Rs 5000/- per month (For 1 year)

If undergoing training under PCS - Minimum amount of Rs 3000/- per month and

 

If undergoing training at Company /other entities - Minimum amount of Rs 4000/- per month

Maximum Number of Transfers

Maximum 02 (two) transfers shall be permitted during entire duration of training from one trainer to another

Requirement of Project Report

Candidates has to prepare a Project Report on basis of his practical training under the guidance of his/her trainer and submit the Report to the Institute.

However, trainees will be required to submit the project report at the time of CLDP. The project Report shall be assessed by a panel of experts at the time of CLDP. The assessment shall be made through a five point grading system and there shall be a viva voce on that project report during the CLDP by the experts.

Time Limit for Registration of Long term practical training

Training has to be registered within 60 days from the date of commencement of his training.

However, registration of training post 60 days but upto 1095 days shall be registered, subject to fine payable.

Registration post 1095 shall not be entertained and registered.

The time limit for submission of training contract/appointment letter is 100 days of commencement/joining of their training.

Any Delay in training registration with the Institute, which is more than 100 days will be considered as Dummy Training and Training of such candidates will not be considered by the Institute.

B.     Practical FAQs on New Training Structure

 

Q1) Can a student registered undergoing CS Executive Programme or cleared single module of Executive Programme start long term practical trainings ?

No, a student in order to start practical training under new training structure, student has to mandatory complete his/her CS Executive programme and clear all the modules.

 

Q2) Is it mandatory to complete 30 day's EDP before start of Training or just 15 days of Online EDP sufficient to start practical trainings ?

EDP for a period of 30 days, where 15 days EDP to be completed in classroom mode and 15 days E-EDP through online mode at ICSI E-Learning portal has to be completed mandatorily before commencement of trainings.

The students can do both the classroom mode EDP as well as e-EDP simultaneously.

 

Q3) How shall students complete 15 days Classroom E-EDP when Chapter are closed and not conducting programs ?

As per ICSI webinar, the chapter shall be conducting 15 days E-EDP after 25th of February 2021 and the preparation of same has been made by the Institute.

 

Q4) If a student has already undergone complete 15 days Academic programme as per earlier/modified training structure. Should he again undergo the 30 days EDP ?

Students who have already completed their 15 days Academic Program under previous training structure and willing to start practical training are exempted to undergo 15 days classroom EDP under new training structure. However, they are required to complete 15 days e-EDP program on E-learning portal

 

Q5) If a student has completed partial training out of 15 days Academic training (i.e completed 2/3/5/10 days of training), shall he be entitled for Old training structure ?

If a student has completed partial training of 2/3/5/10 days out of 15 days Academic Training and not started practical training, he shall be required to undergo fresh 30 days EDP and not liable for any exemptions.

However, if a student has completed partial training out of 15 days Academic Training and started practical training before 3rd February 2021, then he shall be under old training structure only, and can complete remaining training out of 15 days Academic Training afterwards as may be conducted by Institute.

 

Q6) How to register and undergo E-EDP ?

Institute has launched e-EDP through its e-learning platform which works on anytime, anywhere basis i.e (24x7). The fees for e-EDP of Rs. 2000/- has to be paid and thereafter student can watch the video lectures of same from https://elearning.icsi.in/

 

Q7) Is there any mandatory switchover from old training structure to new training structure ?

A student who is undergoing training under old training structure may continue and complete the training in accordance with the said structure, provided that such student at his discretion (optionally) may switch over to the new training structure.

 

Q8) What about a CS executive pass student, completed 06 months of my training out of 24 months of training and discontinued the same. Can he/she complete balance training of 18 months in previous structure or need to register under New Training structure ?

If there is any discontinuance of training as on or after 3rd Feb 2021, then student has to continue balance training under New Training structure only. Additionally, he/she have to complete one month EDP prior to starting the balance training.

 

Q9) Will the institute conduct 15 Academic Training and MSOP after 3rd February for students undergoing training under old training structure ?

Yes, Institute shall conduct 15 Academic Training and MSOP after 3rd February for students undergoing training under old training structure.

 

Q10) Where shall Institute conduct CLDP ?

CLDP is a residential program of 30 to 60 days to be completed by all students after passing Professional Program, in 4 centres of India across India.


Q11)  Can a student after clearing CS Executive Programme attempt for CS Professional Exams without starting any of the above trainings ?

Yes, a student can attempt CS Professional Exams without starting any of the above trainings and can undergo these trainings after completing CS Professional Programme also.
